Demonstration of an online application via the Flyer Tool
CPFilms inc. (Llumar), a client for whom we have previously created the CarConfigurator, asked us to create an online application that would make it possible for thousands of retailers to create their own advertising brochures and flyers directly on the web. The challenge was to establish a way of direct communication between the retailers and the main agency hub commissioned to design and print all of these advertising materials. The team at Sigentix came up with a solution that significantly simplified this part of the workflow.
The overall design, or a template, of an advertising brochure is created by the print agency and made available to retailers online as a pdf version. On the individual pages of the brochure, the agency has allocated zones that define the content – both text and images - that can be modified to suit retailers’ individual requirements:

Screenshot 1: Creating zones approved for modification on the pages of a brochure.

Screenshot 2: The content of these zones can be either text or images.

Screenshot 3: Here text files are being translated.
Each text field – and each field allocated for an image – has a placeholder text or image and a separate field where the retailer can enter the text and/or image he would like to feature in the brochure. Once all modifications have been made to suit the retailer’s purpose, the brochure with the updated content is automatically sent to the agency which will then print the material and send it directly to the retailer.
The technology behind this online application is the ActionScript 3 Framework Flex (on Flash), with the PHP Framework QCodo at the back end.
Since this application is only used internally at CPFilms, we are unable to offer a live demonstration, but have instead put together a short film (with sound) introducing this programme.
