The team at Signetix has been developing Internet applications since 1999, and you’d be right to ask if it isn’t a bit boring to do the same thing over and over again. Yes, of course it is, and that’s exactly why we don’t do that! We enjoy going off the beaten path, discovering new and better ways of doing things and achieving dramatic results working with the latest technologies.
All you need is a love of detail, a lot of patience while tinkering with the nitty gritty stuff and a team of people who love coming to work every day. At Signetix we’re all about working the way we like – having a laugh while still taking the work itself seriously – and producing results we can be proud of.
The strategic decision in 2005 to move our headquarters to New Zealand brings many advantages for all our clients, both in Europe and Australasia. The availability of Asian and New Zealand web developers at internationally very competitive rates. The overnight completion – for European clients – of many smaller jobs. A competitive fixed price structure and lower tax rates for New Zealand companies. And our team is always accessible to you via Internet, video conference or VOIP connection and shift work means there will always be someone there to talk to you about your project.
And even outside of work, we’re still all about business: Signetix founder Michael Zwiener is a mentor for several businesses in Nelson and New Zealand. We all strongly believe that in helping other businesses to thrive, we not only create successful partners but also loyal friends to work with in the long run.
The core team at Signetix – Michael, Eduard, Markus (see profiles below), Carsten (Graphic design and 3D specialist), Jorge (Java, ActionScript, Flash) and Glenn (PHP Frameworks) – are supported by a handful of programmers who provide the solid foundation for the more advanced work we do. For major projects we have a thoroughly tested network of freelancers with whom we have had a well established working relationship for years.
At Signetix we set a very high standard for ourselves, for everyone we work with and for everyone who works for us – and any project manager will know the amount of hard work that goes into establishing such a successful network of likeminded people.
Michael Zwiener
I founded Signetix in early 1999, while still studying information technology, and I quickly realised that the future of software development was the Internet. Consequently I absorbed every morsel of information even remotely related to the industry, and after only two years I had major clients like Bertelsmann and Lufthansa for whom I implemented web projects.
Client recommendations saw Signetix grow exponentially into the boutique agency we are today, working with the very latest technologies and focussed 100 % on delivering the highest quality results to our clients. These are achievements I’m very proud of.
Today I head the team at Signetix and deal with the business management and strategy, focussing mainly on a healthy yet controlled growth of the company that sees us still delivering the high quality results our clients have come to value so much. The bottom line is I’d rather forego the opportunity to take on new projects if it meant compromising others we are currently working on.
Markus Plinke
Markus holds a BA in business administration and has gained a lot of project experience in the IT industry, most recently as part of the management team of Germany’s largest trade corporation in the timber industry.
While he was still at uni he started his own company in the framework environment, relying on both networking and a “Just do it” mentality as his biggest strengths.
Great customer service and optimum accessibility combined with an expectation of delivering outstanding results as a company are what drives him personally and Signetix as a whole.
At Signetix, Markus translates the client’s ideas into the visuals that will comprise your web site. Having “sat on the other side of the table” for a number of years and having successfully directed many (mainly medium sized to big) IT projects, he can easily put himself into the clients shoes and is the perfect person to be your first point of contact when you decide to it’s time to take a step into the future, with Signetix at your side.
Eduard Briem
By 2005 Signetix had achieved the company size and complexity that allowed Michael to enter into the worldwide market and approach international clients, a step that included opening a branch in New Zealand and commuting regularly between Germany and “Down Under”. Here he met Eduard.
“I have never before met anyone with such a high skill level who at the same time is so comfortable and flexible working with the latest technologies,” Michael says.
Eduard is a brilliant programmer with the knack of holding his head high enough to never lose sight of the whole picture of a project.
Very efficient in leading programming teams, he oversees the complex projects himself and the simple ones via a team of project managers, and yet he never minds getting right into the thick of it and to help solve the difficult problems with his expertise.
After only two years of working together Eduard came on board a partner and is today an inherent part of Signetix.
