Example 1: 3D CarConfigurator

Our client, CPFilms Inc. (Llumar), is the biggest manufacturer of glass coatings worldwide. To visually demonstrate the possibilities, in particular, of tinting car windows, CPFilms hired Signetix to develop an application that would let the user view a variety of coatings.

We took it a step further than that and built the world’s first ever Internet-based car configurator, using Flash on Java with Holomatrix and Flex as AS3 Framework, data input via XML.

The technologies we used for this project are for the most part brand new, and the way we used them have created a product of such quality that is it as of yet unparalleled on the Net.

Not only can you view the data for different kinds of foil and coating, but you can literally select one of the vehicles offered in the database, down to the vehicle colour of your choice. The goal is to show the user, as realistically as possible, just what a particular coating will look like on his or her particular car. The vehicles are freely manoeuvrable so you can view them from any angle you choose – simply touch them with the cursor or use the controls.

Please click on the link below to open the CarConfigurator in a new window. Have a play to see what it is like, and realise the possibilities of what Signetix can do.

Example 2: Freely manoeuvrable 3D model

3D, without question, is the future of product depictions on the Net. Have a play with the Signetix logo example below and see how easily you can move it, using either your mouse or the controls on the left. This kind of brilliant depiction is the very latest in graphics technology.

If you have problems viewing the sample, it is likely that your browser does not support Java or does not have a current Flash Player. If this were an online shop, we would simply replace the graphic with a normal photograph of the product and not offer all the additional graphic features.

Example 3: Virtual tour of a house

Everything, starting with simple applications such as the depiction of panoramic photographs is possible. The following example lets you move elegantly through a photographed environment – have a play with your mouse and you’ll quickly realise how flexible the navigation and how intuitive and organic the whole interface is. Change rooms by clicking on the orange eye.

You will need Adobe Flash Player and JavaScript has to be activated in your web browser.

The technology for this application is not based on a 3D model, but instead on a photographed environment which has been imported into Flash and equipped with navigation aids. This is an excellent way of depicting living or office spaces and larger structures on the Net.
